Explore Netherlands #7 – Amsterdam Light Festival, part 2

Following this visit to the water exhibition of the Amsterdam Light Festival, I went back a few weeks later to see the land exhibition. Usually spread through the city, this year the land exhibition was concentrated around the Marineterrein area – about a 20 minute walk east of Centraal Station.

The land displays were only available from 14 December til 7 January (the water artworks can be seen from 30 November – 21 January) so I had to get in a visit before I went back to the UK for my Christmas holiday. amsterdam light festival, amsterdam, street art, light display, immersionI’ve added photos of a few of the different artworks below but I want to share my thoughts on a couple which really hit me hard and that Continue reading…

2017: A year in review

About eight months ago, I had the right conversation with the right person at the right time. It has now been nearly six months since I packed up my life in Birmingham and moved to the Netherlands.

Whilst I knew that I would definitely have a new job by the end of the year, I didn’t know that I would also have a new home in a new home country.

It really has been quite a year so in this video I let you know what changed for me in 2017, what I miss and what my highlights were. Continue reading…

Budget Beauty #1

With winter in full, snowy flow this week, it’s more important than ever to take care of your skin. I’ve got through so many products recently trying to keep my face, hands and body moisturised and nourished during the cold weather.

So, today, I’m starting a new post-series which will look at some budget beauty brands and will review a selection of products from these companies. Continue reading…

Explore Netherlands #5 – Amsterdam Light Festival

“Existential” – the theme of this year’s Amsterdam Light Festival is about how the essential element of light helps to meet the basic needs and dreams of man. The artworks have been created to show how tangible light can be and how we, as humans, regard light as a certainty in our world.

Sampling Beauty: round-up

With more than £14bn spent each year on beauty and personal care products in the UK and knowing that I contribute to that in a really really small way, I thought it would be fun to expand my knowledge of beauty products and give some new items a try.

I started this back in February with the first of my five Sampling Beauty posts. Each of these posts contains my honest reviews of beauty products that I’d never tried before and some from brands I’d never even heard of before. (Note: these posts were not sponsored)

For a selection of products to try, I subscribed to Love Me Beauty. This gives you 60 credits a month to use against their beauty edit and usually allows you to choose at least 3 items. The products then come in a unique, make-up bag which is different each month. These are a couple of my favourite ones: love me beauty, beauty bags, make up bag, beauty productsI also chose Continue reading…
