On the weekend, I decided to go and check it out and found it to be a really great art gallery called Museum de Fundatie. Whilst they show a selection of artwork from their collection, they also have a number of excellent temporary exhibitions.
There was also a number of rooms dedicated to paintings by Jeroen Krabbé – a well-known Dutch artist (I’ve even seen a train with his name on!). The canvases are part of a series called The Late Light, produced only in the last few years, and are around 3m tall; I was completely mesmerised by these two.
Up to the top floor and I find out that they refer to the ‘spaceship’ as ‘the Cloud’. Over the summer, they are hosting the Water Summer Expo 2017 whereby artists could submit their work to a judging panel to try and be included in the display. Nearly 2000 artists submitted around 3000 pieces of work with just 254 selected for the expo held here and at another gallery in a nearby town. There were so many different kinds of work which was really cool. Here are a few that caught my eye…
So, did you guess it would be an art gallery? If not, what did you think this building was?
Have you visited any good exhibitions, galleries or museums recently? Doesn’t matter where in the world but please feel free to recommend your favourites to me and for other readers of my blog.
